A look at one of the best burgers in Victoria.

I Tried Victoria’s Best Burgers—Here’s What Happened

Our city doesn’t play around when it comes to Victoria’s best burgers. They deliver in every bite, from greasy late-night classics to patties stacked with locally sourced ingredients.

But with so many spots scattered across downtown, Cook Street, and beyond—how do you know which burgers actually live up to the hype?

Here’s what I’ve eaten my way through (happily, I might add) to figure out which burgers are worth your time—and your napkin count.

Big Wheel Burger – The Best Burger Chain in Victoria

Canada’s first carbon-neutral burger joint, Big Wheel Burger opened its original location in Cook Street Village back in 2011, and it’s still packed every lunchtime.

Since then, this local success story has expanded to four locations in the Victoria area and one up-island in Courtenay.

Whichever one you visit, it feels like a fast-food spot but tastes like backyard grilled comfort—perfect for families, students, and takeout lovers.

⭐ Don’t leave without: Getting a side of the crispy onion rings—they might even be better than the burgers!

Bin 4 Burger Lounge – Victoria’s Best Burger Lounge

Another BC success story, Bin 4 Burger Lounge was originally born in Victoria on Yates Street and quickly expanded to include three additional island locations and three on the mainland.

This is all thanks to their innovative menu, upmarket burgers, and proper portions—they even give you a side of house salad or truffle fries at no extra cost.

Inside, it’s clean and modern with just enough ambiance for date night—but not too much to scare off a casual dinner with friends.

⭐ Don’t leave without: Trying the Big Dipper Burger. Its Brant Lake Waygu sounds pretentious, but it’s the one that keeps me coming back.

Burger Crush – The Best Veggie Burgers in Victoria

Burger Crush keeps things simple: thin patties, American cheese, butter-toasted buns, and housemade “Crush Sauce”—all served in paper sleeves like the good old days.

It’s a tiny shop with bar seating, and the vibe lands between diner and shack. Works well for solo eats or grabbing a bite after the pub.

Surprisingly, for a no-nonsense burger joint, they provide some of the best Veggie Burgers in the city, so it’s a great option for vegetarians.

⭐ Don’t leave without: Ordering the Veggie-style Cheeseburger—the handmade vegan patties are divine.

A shot of the Beatrice Burger, the signature sandwich at Deadbeetz Burgers.

Deadbeetz – Victoria’s Best Burger Food Truck

What started as a food truck has grown into a Victoria staple with one of the best names in town. Opening a burger joint with a beet theme seemed a bit risky. But I assure you, their meaty stuff hits hard, too.

Deadbeetz brings serious backyard BBQ vibes with retro branding and picnic table flair. The hipster crowd loves it, but so do dads.

You can now choose between two food trucks and a brick-and-mortar location in Oak Bay.

⭐ Don’t leave without: Trying the Beatrice Burger—a beef patty with Vancouver Island sauce, lettuce, cheddar and house-made pickled beets. It shouldn’t work, but it does.

The Brasserie Burger at Brasserie L'Ecole, one of Victoria's best burgers.

Brasserie L’Ecole – The Best Gourmet Burger in Victoria

This cozy French brasserie on Government Street is known for its steak frites, but the burger is a serious contender. This is your spot if you’re down to pay $29 for an elevated French-style burger.

The dimly lit room is packed nightly, and the service is always sharp—it’s ideal for a low-key date or anyone who likes their burger with a good glass of red.

What I like about Brasserie L’Ecole is that it doesn’t try too hard—the burger is just right. Many consider it the best burger in Victoria, and I’m not one to argue.

⭐ Don’t leave without: Grabbing the Brasserie Burger with Swiss cheese, grain mustard aïoli, arugula and frites on the side.

The Kilauea Burger with pulled pork and pinapplae at Kahuna in Victoria, BC.

Kahuna – Victoria’s #1 Fusion Burger

Island-style burgers meet local chill at this Chinatown staple, with pineapple, spicy mayo, and teriyaki sauce making regular appearances.

Kahuna has a casual vibe, boardshort energy, and portions that match the beachy atmosphere.

My go-to is the Kahuna Burger with mango ketchup, pineapple jam and macadamia basil mayo —it’s got that sweet-and-salty combo nailed.

⭐ Don’t leave without: The Kilauea Burger with tender smoked kalua pulled pork, Hawaiian BBQ sauce, and freshly grilled pineapple.

The famous Beacon Drive in next to Beacon Hill Park.

Beacon Drive-In – Victoria’s Best Burger Stand for Families

This retro spot has been flipping burgers across from Beacon Hill Park since 1958—and it still draws big crowds with its no-frills, family-friendly menu.

Plastic booths, fast service, and a menu that hasn’t changed much in decades—there’s something comforting about it all.

I came here after a walk through the park and saw families, students, and locals crowding around trays stacked with fries and burgers. The Beacon Drive In is ideal if you’re visiting Victoria with kids.

⭐ Don’t leave without: Ordering a swirl soft-serve cone for dessert. It’s been voted the best ice cream in the city for 29 years running!

The Single Oklahoma Fried Onion Burger at Murder Burger, one of the Victoria's best burgers.
Instagram:@eatmurderburger

Murder Burger – Victoria’s Best Smash Burger

Tucked away on Fort Street, this dark horse of a burger spot has built a cult following. Murder Burger combines bold, slightly chaotic energy with surprisingly gourmet execution—think towering patties, gooey cheese, and perfectly crisped edges.

They don’t shy away from flavour or attitude. The name is cheeky, but the quality’s no joke. They truly make a killer burger.

This is the kind of sandwich you crave when you’re feeling a little rebellious—or just really hungry.

⭐ Don’t leave without: Trying the Single Oklahoma Fried Onion Burger—it’s messy but oh so delicious.

The Cabana Burger at Superflux Cabana, one of the best burgers in Victoria.
Instagram: @superflux.cabana

Superflux Cabana – The Best Bar Burger in Victoria

Located just a block from Victoria’s Inner Harbour, this colorful bar and restaurant from craft brewers Superflux delivers beach vibes and some of the most over-the-top burgers in town.

Think neon signs, palm trees, and plenty of slushy cocktails. The burger menu leans playful and indulgent—bacon, hot sauce, crispy onions—you name it.

Superflux Cabana is where you go when you’re hungry and in the mood for fun. My go-to is the Cabana Burger with cabana fries and a watermelon sour on the side.

⭐ Don’t leave without: Upgrading to the cabana fries topped with bacon, pickled jalapeños, poblano sauce, cotija cheese, and green onions. It’s the only way to go.

Instagram:@boldshwarma

Bold Butchery & Grill – Victoria’s #1 Hidden Gem

This one’s part butcher, part shwarma joint, part burger stand, and all about top-quality meat cooked simply and served right—with buns that are toasted just the way I like.

You’ll find Bold Butchery tucked along Pandora Street on the fringes of downtown. Shwarmas and burgers might not sound like they mix, but this place will convince you otherwise.

Everything’s made in-house, from the grind to the seasoning. Since they grind their own meats, you can have your burger cooked to order, exactly how you like—from rare to well done.

⭐ Don’t leave without: Trying the new gourmet Truffle Burger. A beef chuck & brisket patty with crispy fried onions, mushroom confit, and truffle aioli. It’s to die for!
